It's A New Car!!

mom doesn't feel like doing the blog so i stuck a couple pictures of my new car on here. its an 1989 range rover.

monday- nothing*

tuesday- nothing*

wednesday- extreeeemely long temple youth cultural celebration

thursday- mom was gone all day at cub scout day camp, she came home mostly sane, bought my car later that night, so obviously not completely

friday- one week after dads b-day, dad and jacob went on a blazer scout camping trip, which meant cereal for dinner

saturday- work work work, bowling, work work, dinner, work work, lunch, work work, bedtime*

sunday- sleep, prayerful study of the book of mormon, bible, and the ensign as a family, church, more scripture study, a couple missionary experiences, home teaching finished for the month, in bed by 8 so we are ready for the next week*

This information may change as soon as my mom realizes what a mistake it was to have me post the blog for this week

*maybe not all of this happened, but for the most part it may or may not be true

He's legal!

Tanner got his driver's license this week! We figured since his permit expired a month ago it was time. He passed both tests the first time. He is pretty excited. BUT, we are going to wait to insure him till he gets a car since it's a whole lot cheaper. So, he still can't drive....haha. I know, we're mean. Blake started getting paperwork for his eagle project this week. He is going to put together hygiene kits for the humanitarian center. So, if anyone wants to help donate or help put them together, after he is official he will be putting info on here. We celebrated Chad's 40th birthday Friday. He is the cutest and youngest 40 year old I know. I think he had a good day, the boys painted the windows of his truck so everyone would know it was his bday. He and I went out to lunch and then some of his family came that night to help us eat pizza. I threatened to invite everyone we've ever known to come for a surprise party, but he didn't think that was funny. I guess sense of humor is the first thing to go? Chad spent most of the day yesterday with the Youth Cultural Celebration, that's the program they'll do the day before the temple dedication. It is going to be quite the program. I spent most of the day working on my talk I had to give in church today. Boy am I glad that's over. Chad talked also, and did outstanding as usual.We went to a farewell today of one of the boys Chad had in Young men years ago. There is a group of them all going in the next few months. Apparently, Chad made a prediction way back when about which of them would be going stateside and which would be going foreign. He got them all right, so now they think he's a prophet. haha. Well, I really don't feel like spending my time tonight on this dang computer. So....

Bittersweet!

As thrilled as we were to see home yesterday, it is sad to think it will be another year till we see some of you again. We had a WONDERFUL time on our vacation. We left early Friday morning and drove straight through to Phoenix. It took about 13 1/2 hours. Faster than we thought it would. The kids traveled great -no fighting really. We travel different than we used to. I used to print games off and find ways to keep them entertained. Now we just bring the laptop and watch movies. How lazy. They don't get carsick that way, though. Saturday most of my family came and spent the day at mom and dad's. We missed you Brandon, Melissa, Adan and Elijah. I met my newest nephew! Brody is so dang cute! Thanks Kalauna for letting me hog him so much. There's just nothing like a little baby. My heart aches today to hold him again. Sunday we went to church with Mom and Dad. I held Brody lots. :_) We had a BIG family dinner that night. Wow, our 7 original people have sure grown into lots more. Monday we went to the Challenger Space Center. That was interesting. During a movie Rylee and her cousin Chase thought we really went into space. Rylee was very concerned about that. Luckily we were still in Arizona when it was over. Then we went to Tucker's for pizza. I got to drive his cool clown car. That was fun for me, not so much for him. haha. Bring back any memories tucker? I went to Kalauna's that night to help with Brody during the night. That was so neat. He is so cute, did I mention that? Tuesday we went to the Science Center. They had an exhibit on Narnia that Chad and some of the boys went to. We spent several hours there. I especially liked the planetarium. We watched a movie about the black hole. I noticed several pairs of closed eyes....then I joined them. My mom walked around there with us the whole time. It is amazing to me how much she's improved. What a change from November. That night we went to Konden's for dinner. They have lots of cute girls. I can't believe how fast they are growing. I've only seen some of them a few times, so I guess that's why they change so fast. Mary made the best Chili and corn bread, and fruit tart. Have I mentioned that before? I need the recipes, by the way. I did really good watching what I ate up till then. oh well. Wednesday was our last day in Phoenix. The kids swam, Kalauna and I ran errands, then we went out to dinner with all the adults that night. It was a great time there! Thanks everyone for all your hospitality and just being nice to me and my family! Thursday morning we left mom and dad's. That was really hard. We drove to the Grand Canyon. What an AWESOME place. I think we hit every gift shop there. Reid just had to see what was in them all. Strange thing was, they were all the same. The canyon was beautiful! Someday I'd like to hike it. Nobody fell over, and we were all even able to look down it. Most of us have height issues. I think we are getting better. Only once did my heart pound really hard. We drove to Page that night and stayed in a hotel. We were able to sleep in Friday, that was really nice, then we drove to Manti. We had a barbecued turkey dinner. It tasted like steak. It was yummy for the first 3 bites. That was enough for me. Then we went to the temple pageant. I haven't been since I was 12. I figure if I go every 24 years I will be 60 next time. Scary thought. We really enjoyed it till the last 1/2 hour when Reid had to go to the bathroom REALLY REALLY bad. Rylee said she did too, then she fell asleep. I was very nervous. As soon as it looked like it was getting over we left fast, then ran to the bathrooms. No line yet. Rylee called out when she was in the stall, "I made it!" The lady behind me thought that was pretty funny. Oh, Reid made it too. We drove to Spanish Fork to DeeAnna's and got there around 1 am. We were all so tired, just plopped in bed. Saturday we went to the Hogle Zoo. We have a pass and wanted to use it, but we should have just come home. We were all so completely worn out. We stayed at the zoo for a few hours then came home. It was a bit warm in my house when we got here, so I turned on my air conditioning! YEAH! It felt wonderful. How nice to cool off in our house. We all slept so good in our own beds. So glad today is Sunday, we just rested, read, and went to church. I think this is far too long for anyone to read, but now I can have it for my journal. Happy Father's Day!

I forgot two very exciting things that happened for Jacob this week. One of his friends gave him a new turtle. His name is Snappy. Another Red-eared slider just like Sandy. He's pretty excited. He was so sad when his other turtle Phil died a month ago. He also was in the Western Days parade on Saturday. His was the only float worth seeing. I don't like that parade much. It's just a big advertisement. Usually people don't even bother decorating, just drive their trucks or cars with their business logos on them. Sorry, I'm complaining. Jacob was cute though.

Expensive decoration

We now have our most expensive decoration in our garage and backyard. But after tomorrow it will be an air conditioner. I am anxiously awaiting.... We had a good memorial day. Chad worked our tails off, which is a really good thing, I would hate to walk around with a tail. Embarrassing. We went to a friends for a hot dog roast. It was really windy and cold but fun anyway. Tuesday the A/C guys showed up at 8:45. I was shocked to see them then, they told me 9. Good thing I was dressed already. They made a dusty mess all over my house. I spent all that afternoon and evening dusting and vacuuming. It was a happy mess, though. I didn't mind cleaning up after them. They were here all day Wednesday and finished on Thursday. It looks really neat, but does nothing yet. Friday the electrician crew came and did their part. Dusty really didn't like them. I think if he could have broken his chain they would have been in trouble. Funny, he didn't mind the A/C guys nearly as much. Tomorrow they are supposed to be back to hook everything up. YEAH. Boy that will be nice, our 67 degree temps are really getting to me. haha Blake had an orthodontist appt this week. He's pretty excited, they told him it won't be too much longer with the braces. I told him that 2 years isn't too long in the eternal perspective. He's hoping for a couple months. Originally it was supposed to be 2 years, so I think he's got a little longer than he hopes. He looks so cute with them though. Rylee and I went on a picnic with some friends that moved to Declo. The clouds opened up and dumped on us. It was funny, we can pack up chairs and food really fast. So we had a picnic in my kitchen. Wednesday was Tanner's last day of school. He thinks it's pretty neat to get out before everyone else. Rylee thought it was great! She kept asking me all Thurs morning if she could wake him up yet. She was going to "get him" because the night before he said something about her being 3 years old. She didn't appreciate that. Thursday we had a pack meeting. It was weird, we only have one cub scout left. It will be weird not to have cub scouts anymore. I remember one time adding up how many years of pack mtgs we had. (8) Now we are down to 2.5. This was a fun one. We went down the canyon and the boys made sailboats out of styrofoam, sticks and leaves, then raced them in raingutters. Reid got 3rd place and Jacob got 1st. They let Jacob race even though he left last month. Friday was the last day of school for Blake, Jacob and Reid. They were pretty happy. I'm a bad mom, they came home, told me about their day then I went to bed. I was a tired mom. Tanner started his job this week. He is working for a dry cleaner. He seems to like it. I like that he has something to keep him a little busy. He has a great boss, he's our Stake Patriarch. Well, that's our week in a nutshell, a very long one, but... Have a great week everyone!
